This is a one of a kind autographed 24 x 32 mixed medium painting of Tony Gwynn. He was recently induced into the Hall of Fame from the San Diego Padres. He has been named the best hitter since Ted Williams. Tony has hit more than 3,100 pitches. Originally born in Long Beach and then became a basketball player at San Diego State University in 1977. Thereafter he played baseball for 3 years with a record of .416 batting average, consisting of 111 home runs and 62 batted in. Gwynn started with the Padres in 1982. After 20 years with the Padres he broke more records and became the best hitter since Ty Cobb.
Artist Prince Whiting painted a portrait of Tony Gwynn at the Qualcomm Stadium with downtown skyline in the background. Tony then autographed this rare painting for the local artist and they appeared to hit it off great. Tony is a great human being. The artist felt honored to meet Mr. San Diego. They were seen clowning around at the signing. The artist was then asked to paint a special painting just for Gwynn’s personal collection. Prince is now working on a masterpiece just for Gwynn. He has also painted portraits of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and others. Each of his originals has been signed by the individuals personally. Prince has stated that he has been named the “paparazzi artist”.
